Star Trek ran for 79 episodes. In 1966, we saw the capable Chekov and the brilliant Lt. Uhura. We watched Sulu engage in swordplay and Scotty care for his precious engines. Trek’s cast of characters is as broad and engaging as those found in a folk tale or myth, but always realistic. Over the decades, they became our trusted guides and dear friends.
The Enterprise family became our extended space family.
It originally ran for three seasons. What if it had continued on for more intergalactic fun? Where would writer Gene Roddenberry’s sci-fi masterpiece have taken us as fans and as a human species? It’s fun to speculate.
